On a cold and sleet filled afternoon, a few Bella Rose members meet at a library in Greenwood to learn how to make beautiful macrame snowflake ornaments. Since I had spent the day driving home from an impromptu trip from Michigan, I was glad to to be meeting in a warm library after braving the late fall sleet for the 3.5hrs it took me to get home. You can imagine my equal excitement to find small crock pots full of crack chicken dip, nacho cheese dips, and pumpkin fluff for dessert!
I had absolutely loved the beautiful macrame plant hanger from Tangled Up in Knots that arrived in my August "I'm a Succa For You" box. So, when I learned that the owner, Melissa Otero, would be teaching a class, I immediately messaged Sarah to sign up for the member's day outing. I'm definitely glad I did!
I had previously dabbled in macrame when I went through a hemp bracelet making phase as a teen. (Does anyone else remember the hemp sqaure knot bracelets with clay mushroom beads? Oof!) With this meager experience under my belt, how could this be any different? I knew I'd have fun. I probably struggled the most with crafting my ornament (look at the picture of me on the left hand side below LOL), but Melissa was SO great with providing easy to follow instructions, and was so patient with helping us (me) untie any misplaced knots.
At the end of a couple of hours chatting with each other and learning this new craft, we all had really adorable snowflake ornaments to smile over. Will I dabble in macrame again? Probably, if Melissa is willing to tutor me. I hope she expands to virtual classes, since her in-person class was so informative. She is so talented, and I even though I told her at one point: "You're business is safe, I can't do this very well", I really did have a lot of fun.
I was sad once the Members Day Out event ended, because I was able to spend an otherwise dreary cold day meeting new ladies, and having some quality "me time" away from my little one. Sarah did an amazing job with how she planned, prepped, and made everything so super easy for everyone that attended. The quiet setting of the library conference room was perfect, the food was great, and the company was the best! I honestly can't wait for the next enjoyable event on December 3rd, with Cheryl Piotrowski.
Cheryl owns Stampin'Up, and her fun and easy card making kit was included in the October "Grateful, Thankful, Blessed" subscription box. The card making event will be held in Cheryl's Craft Room on Friday, December 3rd at 7pm. The cost is $35 and includes all crafting supplies, holiday snacks, drinks, and a chance at an awesome Door Prize! You even get to pick out your own card kit so it fits your personality! Spaces are limited, and I've already claimed mine. Make sure you register for your spot NOW!
I hope you will subscribe to the upcoming December box so that you too can enjoy the goodies. And I hope to see you at the next outing, because I would love to meet you!
